moody blues

With winter rapidly approaching, I tend to gravitate toward dark, moody colors in my wardrobe that reflect the colder temps and dreary winter days.  I've posted about my love for all things inky blue before and last week, when the temps were in the 50's, I was contemplating slathering my guest bathroom in a rich navy, almost black paint. It's a small room, with lots of white and wainscoting running four feet up the wall, so a dark hue would be the perfect compliment. The only problem is that I'm a fan of painting the ceilings....the ceilings throughout our entire house are painted a tinted version of the wall color and I'm not sure I'm ready to commit to such a dark color in the guest bath (in case I change my mind two weeks from now and want to re-paint).  Ah, indecision! Anyway, here are some of my favorite dark-hued bathrooms to serve as inspiration:

Jenna Lyons' master bathroom is one of my favorites...antique brass fixtures and herringbone wood floors add a rustic touch and a lot of warmth:

Love this dark, masculine bathroom, by Mark D. Sikes:

...and this one, via Lonny.  Pops of orange are a warm accent:

This guest bathroom is the most lovely shade of navy-it's actually Benjamin Moore's Providence Navy and it looks amazing with the dark vanity and light blue mirror:

I recently found this blog and gobbled up every bit of Annie's new home.  This is her son's bathroom; the walls are painted charcoal by Restoration Hardware, but in this photo look almost black:

Another beautiful black and white bathroom via Lonny:

This Pottery Barn bathroom is coated in Benjamin Moore's Newburyport Blue.  It looks so crisp against the white floors and trim:

Would you paint a room in your house dark blue/black?  What are some of your favorite inky blue rooms?
