my swimming pool

This week has been as crazy and hectic as it has been long.  I’m knee-deep in a very exciting project, but, since we just started this week, I am no where near ready to share details…yet.   So, instead, I thought I’d post some pictures of our in-ground pool today.

As I posted before, when we sold our house at the beach and moved further inland when the hubby got orders a few years back, we decided to put an in-ground, saltwater, concrete pool in our new backyard.  It was the best decision we ever made.  I fell in love with these slate tiles, but, as it turned out, slate does not stand up well to salt water (shockingly!), so instead, we opted for some beautiful porcelain tiles that are stamped to look exactly like slate and then had the plaster tinted the same dark, azure blue to match.  It’s my favorite place to unwind after a long day:

This guy loves it, too!

Happy Thursday!

    Hi Kelly,

We have recently moved to a house with an inground pool. It has gravel, interspersed with large stone circles, it may sound nice, but we really don't care for it. I would love to surround the concrete edging with grass, as you have, but hubby is concerned about grass getting in the pool when he mows. I would love your thoughts. BTW, your pool is gorgeous!

Love it! And I love that you use it often! Backyard pools seem like the kind of thing lots of people want but few actually use regularly. I also love your landscaping. I've been thinking about planting lantana in front of the boxwoods in my front yard since you posted about them recently!

Thanks, Kate! We use it each and every day – I can't imagine summer without it (and neither can many of our friends!) Tricia, my husband was concerned about the same thing, and while a little bit of grass does get into the pool, it's minimal, because every other time we mow the lawn, I use hand trimmers to touch up the grass that goes right up to the pool. Well worth it, if you ask me 🙂
