garden variety design

I have a serious obsession with charming Cape Cod-style homes covered in silvery, weathered shingles, but a charming Cape Cod covered in silvery, weathered shingles set in South Carolina’s Lowcountry?  Be still my heart!  Add a fresh helping of crisp white paint, soft linens and a ton of texture and the Kiawah Island home of Garden Variety Design’s Jeannette Whitson had me at hello!  This is a stunning example of how an all-white interior can be warm and inviting when layered with warm woods, soft linen and rough texture (loving the modern seagrass bar stools in the kitchen and that fabulous tufted sofa in the living room!).  Subtle nautical touches like coral, sea glass, pertrified wood side tables and a fabulous antique chain link are an elegant nod to the sea beyond the windows.  The result is so sophisticated yet relaxed and family-friendly – the perfect combination, in my opinion!

Here are my picks for creating a similar look:

barrel chandelier / sofa / coral / baskets / lantern / coasters / coffee table / tree side table
