client kitchen

I am super excited to finally share with you some pictures of a finished client project, a new construction home that was finished last July.  This project was especially important to me because, for one, I became good friends with my wonderful client and also because this home is up for Pinehurst Home of the Year 2012!!!  Design really is in all the little details and this house has a ton!  Today I wanted to share the heart of the home - the kitchen.

Twelve foot, coffered ceilings make this space, which is open to the family room, live even larger.  We painted inside each coffer two shades darker than the walls to really make the beams pop.  Handscraped, wide-plank hardwoods create a beautiful contrast below:

Black pearl granite countertops and a tumbled marble subway tile backsplash compliment an amazing black distressed hood and stone surround:

Two reproduction antique French chandeliers hang over a nine foot black, distressed island, framing the hood perfectly:

Happy Tuesday!

currently loving....

I hope you all had a wonderful weekend!  Today I thought I'd post a few pretties I'm loving (and, in some cases, obsessing over) lately to kick this Monday off right!  Valentine's Day is right around the corner, after all...

Be still, my heart, these brass letters make me swoon...and would look equally amazing on a bookshelf or gallery wall:

I can't get enough of the lovliness that is Margaret Elizabeth jewelry.  Very rarely do I covet an entire collection, but I have to say, I would be equally happy with anything from this line! Here are a few of my favorites:

Love this monogrammed chevron tray in navy blue by Jill Rosenwald - a beautiful way to display and corral jewelry, or, in this case, the occasional pile of lemons:

This gorgeous python clutch would make a fabulous addition to any wardrobe:

Number Four Eleven is king of the vintage monogram and these linen pillows are so lovely!  I love the size of the letters - if you're going to monogram, go big or go home!

Love everything about this educational whale chart - its size, the colors and the overall whimsy of the piece - what a unique piece of art, not to mention a statement piece! I first saw it on Boxwood Rehoboth's blog and immediately loved the scale.  Would look amazing against some grasscloth wallpaper:

I am a recent Dermalogica convert and my skin has never looked better!  So, when I saw they have their own tinted moisturizer, I thought I'd give it a try - it's light and super sheer, yet evens out redness and the best part is that it doesn't even look like I'm wearing makeup!

How chic are these gilded edges?  Would be a very simple DIY to transform black picture frames with some painter's tape and gold spray paint or some gold leaf, if you're feeling extra crafty:

Hope you are all off to a great start this week!  What are you loving lately?

project sneak peek

My fabulous client and I are making some serious headway on her family room - wide plank, handscraped hardwood floors have been installed, bookshelves styled and organized, new lighting chosen, a set of wing backs reupholstered and slowly, but surely, we are getting to the final finishing touches.  We still have window treatments to install, more lighting to purchase and a pretty impressive gallery wall of family photos to hang, but for now, here are a few sneak peeks!

The built-in bookshelves on either side of the room now display the homeowner's extensive book collection, souvenirs and a ton of family photos:

The brass bells were given as favors at the homeowners' wedding to signify when guests wanted the couple to kiss-how unique!

Closeup shot of the wingbacks that were recently reupholstered in a delicious raspberry linen and studded with silver nailhead trim, as well as a peek of the gorgeous new hardwood floors:

New lighting is in place:

We are moving right along on this room, so stay tuned for more progress pics and

have a wonderful weekend!

take me away: inn at windmill lane

I've never been to the Hamptons, but a long weekend holed up at an amazing, shingle-style bed and breakfast like the Inn at Windmill Lane in Amagansett, NY, is EXACTLY what I need right now!  Shingle-style homes give me heart palpitations and this inn is as adorable on the outside as it is chic on the inside!  All-white interiors, subway tile and beadboard are simple, yet sophisticated and create a crisp contrast to dark floors, oversize furniture, soaring ceilings and slate patios outdoors.  Here's a little sneakity peek:

Soaring ceilings, tons of natural light and simple bedding reign supreme in this guest cottage.  Love the oversize art over the fireplace and the pop of color from a handful of hydrangeas:

State of the art appliances, white cabinetry and a generously-sized island in the kitchen....I will never grow tired of white kitchens - so simple and classic:

More vaulted ceilings and a muted color palette in the living room:

Marble vanities, subway tile as far as the eye can see and a huge glass shower in a bathroom:

THAT TUB!!!!

I would never leave this chaise in front of the outdoor fireplace - I would need three more buckets of champagne, though...

crazy for cowhide

It all started with a little pillow....a cowhide-print beauty (not the real deal) that was the perfect finishing touch for a cozy little corner of a nursery I'm working on and I was instantly smitten! Suddenly, I notice cowhides in interiors everywhere I look now-rugs, pillows, stools, you name it!  Like most fabulous design details, a little bit goes such a long way.  Layered over top seagrass or sisal rugs, cowhides add warmth, texture and character to any space, regardless of your decor style.  Here are a few chic spaces that live larger with the help of a beautiful cowhide touch:
