oversize seascapes from minted

Despite the fact that it's fall, I never have the beach too far from my mind.  And what better way to capture the essence of the sea than with an oversize photographic print of it in your home?  If you guys have been following along here a while, you know I'm obsessed with prints of the sea on as big a scale as I can get.  Minted is killing it lately with their budget-friendly pieces and I still can't get over how affordable they are framed!  It's such a great way to make a dramatic impact without breaking the bank!  Below is a roundup of some pieces I'm loving lately; I'm seriously thinking East Coast Surf would make a great gift for the hubby!  It's so hard to pick a favorite; which one is yours?

Rocky Coast / Blue Monday / Seaside Contrast

Monochrome Shore / Diverge / Praia da Ursa

Foaming Sea Water iiiWave Patterns

East Coast Surf / Staten Sea I / Malibu View No. 2

deb achak: ebb and flow

If you've been following here for any length of time, you know that I have a weakness for/mild obsession with oversize photographic prints of the sea, so it was only fitting that I would fall head over heels in love with Seattle-based photographer Deb Achak's Ebb and Flow series.  And since we are about to head back to the beach, I can't think of a better time to post!

Taken off the coast of Maui and the Amalfi Coast of Italy, the shots are from the vantage point of the swimmer's eye, which I absolutely LOVE, and the colors are absolutely stunning!  Can you just imagine the dramatic impact one of these prints would make in a room on a very large scale?  I have been following Deb for a while on Instagram and have particularly enjoyed all the snaps she's shared on her stories of her recent trip back to Italy; her feed is full of so much inspiration, she's definitely one to follow!  In the meantime, here are a few of my favorites from her Ebb and Flow series

And just to see how amazing these prints truly are on a large scale, here are a few snaps from her Instagram.  Most are in her all-white studio, which make for the perfect backdrop for her beautiful prints:

GIVEAWAY with lauren marttila photgraphy!

If you guys have been following along here for a while, you know I could probably designate an entire page on the blog to just oversize photographic prints of the sea, I love them that much.  I'm also a huge fan of surf prints, which also hold special meaning for me and my husband (he spent his first four years in the Marine Corps in Hawaii, where he learned how to surf).  I'm always on the lookout for a new piece of art or photographic print of a lineup or silhouette of a surfer because, not to sound like a broken record, but art that holds personal meaning is my very favorite kind!  So, it's only fitting that I would fall in love with the work of Nantucket-based photographer, Lauren Marttila and her stunning seascapes, beachscapes and, especially, black and white surf prints!

Lauren is an absolute sweetheart; I've been following her work on Instagram and obsessing over her "Wait" and "Lineup" for a while now.  Lucky for us, she has graciously agreed to give away one of her framed "shelfie" prints to a lucky reader today - a 5" by 5" print, that includes a white mat and frame!  Below are the three prints to choose from:

"Lineup"

"Flock"

"Emoji in the Wild"

TO ENTER, ALL YOU HAVE TO DO IS:

1.  Leave a comment with the name of the shelfie you like.

2.  Make sure you leave your name and email so I can get in touch with you!

3.  Make sure you are following @Bungalowblue and @Laurenmarttila on Instagram, too!

We will select a winner at random this Friday, 26 January, and Lauren will then ship the framed print at no charge to the winner, (within the Continental U.S. only)  Best of luck trying to decide which one you love the most!  So excited for you guys!

3 etsy artists i'm loving lately

Sorry for the silence on the blog last week - the hubby had the last two weeks off so we took the opportunity to high tail it to the beach and soak up some much-needed family time! It was hard sending him back off to work again this morning, but I'm super excited to be back to blogging and I have a TON of stuff to share with you guys!  We made some serious headway in the nursery, had a new table and benches made for our deck and knocked out a bunch of small DIY's with major bang for your crafty buck!  Right now, though, I wanted to share three extremely talented artists whose pieces are bright and beautiful reminders of our time spent by the sea these last two weeks!

I've never been one to gravitate toward overly feminine fabrics, art or design in general, but I am seriously crushing on these three Etsy artists recently who happen to nail that girly girl aesthetic  in gorgeous, watery pastels and lovely, moody blues.  The best part is that all of their prints are available in many different sizes and they are super affordable!  So, if you've been wanting to get started on a collection of your own, are just one who appreciates a beautiful piece, or are looking for a gift for your favorite girlfriend, here are three artists to check out now!

Hayley Mitchell Art

I'm obsessed with the colors in her Sunner print and her Moth series is equally amazing!

Sunner

Moth Series

Kristine Brookshire

Gorgeous watercolor nudes and beach scenes in the prettiest pastel shades!  Any one of these would be a beautiful addition to a bathroom:

Female Figure

Lady Coral

Female Figure in Acrylic

Clare Elsaesser

Clare needs no introduction here; I've posted her work on the blog many times and I still love her female silhoettes in the sea as much now as when I first laid eyes on them!  Any one of these would look absolutely amazing on a large scale for some serious drama in a bedroom or bathroom!

Married to the Sea

At Sunset

Summer Girl

Who are some Etsy artists you're loving lately?  I'm always on the lookout for new favorites!

favorite beach prints from one kings lane

Lauren Soloff via Domino

Summer is in full swing around here and we've got the heat and humidity to prove it.  I have missed living five minutes from the beach ever since we moved two and a half hours inland when the hubs was transfered, but I especially get nostalgic right around this time of year when the temps get really warm.  Lately, I've found myself browsing photographic prints of the ocean late, late at night when I should be counting sheep, so I thought I'd round up a bunch of my favorites for you, because when is ocean art ever a bad idea??  And even better, most of these come in large and extra large sizes, which, if you've been following along here for any length of time, you know oversize art is kind of my jam.

Minted and Etsy are usually my first places to hit for oversize photographic prints of the sea at budget-friendly prices, but lately One Kings Lane is KILLING IT with their selections, so I just had to feature a few of my faves:

Judith Gigliotti, Yellow Kayaks in Aqua

Philip Barlow, Sea of Glass

Christine Flynn, Ocean Beach

Max Wanger, Tulum

Christine Flynn, Malibu Beach

Natalie Obradovich, Banje Beach

Max Wanger, Dip

Matt Crabtree, Beach Bods

Judith Gigliotti, White Afternoon

Max Wanger, Country Line

Carlos Pereira, Santa Monica Beach
