design finds: blue + white + lots of texture

I can't think of a fresher color combination than blue and white to brighten up the gloomiest month of the  year and, thanks to the bevy of great home decor sales going on right now, so many things on my radar are super budget-friendly, too!  Now, you know I couldn't do a roundup of some blue and white pretties without also including some texture and a little brass to warm things up a bit, so here are a few picks I'm loving lately; everything here, with the exception of the chair and sconce, is less than $100 and some items are well below!

Chair / Garden stool / Throw blanket / Basket / Pillow / Ridge vase / Hand towels /

Marble planter / Marble lamps /Wall sconce / Kooboo tray /

How gorgeous is this chair?  I'm not sure if I love it more for its lines or for its pricepoint!

Obsessed with these ridge vases; they're equally as breathtaking with blooms or on their own on a side table of bookshelf.  So much texture and interest!

LOVE this ribbon trim pillow, but would definitely have to remove the tassels before my little hurricanes (accidentally) did!

I just gave a set of these hand towels to a friend as a housewarming present and they were a huge hit!

This blue and white chinoiserie garden stool is gorgeous in person and, at $64, almost unbelievably priced!

I never met a rattan tray that I didn't like; this is pretty similar to the one I use to corale my oils and salt and pepper in my kitchen!

Really into marble everything right now, including this pair of blue and white lamps for $140 (FOR TWO!!!) and this planter.

My love for stripes runs deep; seriously considering two of these blue and white striped throws to wrap around chair cushions in my living room.  At $27 a pop, they're a steal!

This basket is small - 13 by 14 inches - but would work for holding crayons, as a makeshift utensil holder, or even a planter!

I'm in love with these sconces and am considering two for above the daybed in Luca's room.  LOVE.

What's on your radar lately?

a new favorite entertaining staple

If you follow me on Instagram you proably have seen I've added a new favorite to my collection of entertaining staples - these gorgeous rectangular water hyacinth placemats from Pottery Barn that Santa left under my tree for Christmas!  Anyone who knows me knows I love all things Ina Garten and these placemats remind me so much of the ones she uses to set her table.  I figure, I already have French wine glasses similar to hers (mine are dupes from Crate and Barrel), why not add these, too?  I love the texture they bring to the table but I especially love how adding these beneath simple white dinner plates just makes dinner feel a little bit more special.  I've used these for takeout as well as homecooked meals and they make me so happy, every time I pull them out of the pantry!

I've gotten so many DM's about these and so I'm excited to share them here on the blog, as well!  Right now, they're 25% off with code REFRESH at Pottery Barn, if you're interested!  Maybe an early Valentine's Day treat???

I have mine styled here for dinner with the hubby a few weekends back; the navy linen napkins are from Hobby Lobby, the bamboo flatware is from Harold's Finishing Touches (these are going to be back in stock very soon, so if you're interested in these, send them a DM!), the dinner plates I bought at TJMaxx a few years back and the wicker vase was actually a candle that I cleaned out in the oven (see how I did it here).

Wishing you all a great start to your week!

new pillows (finally!) + a new favorite etsy shop

Happy New Year!  I hope you all had a wonderful holiday and are off to a great start in 2019!  While all of blogland and Instagram is all about organizing every nook and cranny of your home this month, I thought I'd change tack a little and make my first post of the new year about one of my favorite decorative accessories, instead....new pillows!!

I've been on the hunt for lumbar pillows for the chairs in our living room for some time now, but never really loved anything enough to pull the trigger.  Then right before Christmas - like, literally, ten days before, when the hubby was trying to get me to give him a couple things from my wish list, I landed on Motif Pillows' page on Etsy and fell in love with John Robshaw Lanka in Lapis.  I quickly emailed them to see what the turnaround time would be if I ordered two lumbar pillows, TOTALLY not expecting them in time for Christmas, and was told that if I ordered them that day (Saturday) they could get them out the following Wednesday (Christmas was the following Tuesday). The hubby ordered them, and, I kid you not, the pillow covers were in my mailbox three days later!!!!

I am not sponsored by Motif Pillows in any way, I'm just so impressed with the customer service, the quick response and, of course, the quality of the pillows, that I had to share!  I'm so in love with the print; I think it's the perfect compliment to the linen chairs and the pop of black on the side table.

I'm still looking for a blue and white striped or a pale blue throw to tuck into the cushion on the chair (any suggestions are most welcome!!), but I'm so happy with how well this turned out!  Changing up your throw pillows can be a small investment, but it can completely transform and breathe new life into a space - perfect for the New Year! Okay, off to enjoy this gorgeous 66 degree weather with the littles and then tackle one closet/dumping spot in my house at a time!

blue + white + natural for summer

I can't think of a more quintessential color combination that so perfectly represents summer than blue and white, so I thought I'd start the week off with a little roundup of some beautiful blue and white decorative accessories that are on my radar right now!  And, of course, you know I had to add a little natural texture to the list, as well.  This pair of splatter lamps is so gorgeous in person, they come in a bunch of different color ways and the price is so good; loving these woven placemats to dress up an alfresco dinner and I'm obsessed with this woven side table!  This woven carafe is on sale and is monogrammable, which pretty much makes it the perfect hostess gift or birthday present for that special friend who loves to entertain.  This horn and woven serving set is TO DIE FOR (also on sale!)  These ridge vases add so much texture and interest, they would look just as striking by themselves on a bookshelf as they would holding flowers or fresh greenery as a centerpiece:

placemats / splatter lamps / bamboo mirror

pillow / carafe / serving set / vases

bar cart / ice bucket / napkins / woven side table

Hope you're all off to a great start this week!

a stunning, nautical-inspired wedding in new england

After one of the longest, coldest winters in history, we are finally basking in the heat and humidity again, so to celebrate, I thought I'd share one of the most stunning nautical-inspired weddings I've ever seen in person, since warm weather makes me want to break out ALLLLLLL the nautical everything!  You guys might remember that three weeks after having Luca, the hubby and I packed up the littles and drove north - way north - to Newport, Rhode Island, for my cousin's wedding.  Lydia was the flower girl, Daddy walked her down the aisle and I squeezed my post-partum body into a gown as matron of honor (thank the Lord it was navy blue and forgiving!)  My aunt and uncle have a beautiful home in Newport, which served as a gorgeous spot for pictures before heading to the always enchanting Castle Hill Inn for the wedding ceremony and reception, where the sea provided the most amazing backdrop.  My cousin wanted a nautical-inspired reception that reflected her and her now-husband's love of the sea as well as the town they now call home and they got it in spades with a navy and white color palette, gold accents and pale pink, white and peach flowers.  I kid my aunt all the time that she should go into even design because she didn't miss a single detail when planning this wedding; it was seriously magazine-worthy.  From my cousin's incredible, vintage-inspired gown and the crystal chandeliers and twinkle lights that lit the tent for the reception to the hand-engraved dessert forks and antique cake topper, it was truly one of the most magical evenings that we are all still talking about, a year and a half later!  I couldn't be more proud - of my beautiful cousin for finding such an amazing guy and for my aunt for an unforgettable, truly magical night!

The flower girl and the bride-to-be:

The detailing on her dress was breathtaking:

The flowers were absolutely INCREDIBLE!  These pictures just don't do them justice; cabbage roses, hydrangea, dahlia, anemones as far as the eye could see:

A peek at the bridesmaid's bouquets (and the cutest little flower girl I ever did see!):

The beautiful couple and another shot of the gorgeous lace and beading on the back of her gown:

Crystal chandeliers, twinkle lights and candlelight in the tent:

Baby's breath garland and simple navy and white striped grosgrain ribbon on the bride and groom's chairs:

Hand engraved dessert forks for the bride and groom:
