hamptons handpoured + a giveaway!

I can't remember the last time I went an entire day at home without lighting a candle.  I keep one on my mantle where it's out of my littles' reach and when I'm done running errands for the day, lighting it is the first thing I do before anything else.  I'm always on the hunt for affordable, soy-based candles that smell amazing so, I was thrilled to discover Hamptons Handpoured, an East Hampton-based candle company created by a Hamptons' native to merge her love of interior design and wellness.

Each and every candle is hand poured and uses American grown, natural soy and plant-based fragrance oils. I love that each scent that is used tells the story of life on the East End!  The candles burn so well and smell absolutely AMAZING and, an added bonus-the packaging blends in so well with the rest of my decor.

I've been burning Bridgehampton nonstop in the kitchen lately; the mix of lime, arugula and honeysuckle is so fresh but still light, which I love because it's not competing with whatever I'm cooking.  Southampton has taken up permanent residence in my bathroom; I burn it after the kids have gone to bed and I get a chance to take a hot shower after a long day.  With cotton, gardenia and white tea undertones, it smells just like freshly laundered linen!  East End is probably my most favorite because it smells exactly like the sea!

I'm so excited to have teamed up with Hamptons Handpoured on Instagram to give away one of their candles of your choice!  So, hop on over to Instagram (@bungalowblue) and tag a friend for a chance to win!

GIVEAWAY with lauren marttila photgraphy!

If you guys have been following along here for a while, you know I could probably designate an entire page on the blog to just oversize photographic prints of the sea, I love them that much.  I'm also a huge fan of surf prints, which also hold special meaning for me and my husband (he spent his first four years in the Marine Corps in Hawaii, where he learned how to surf).  I'm always on the lookout for a new piece of art or photographic print of a lineup or silhouette of a surfer because, not to sound like a broken record, but art that holds personal meaning is my very favorite kind!  So, it's only fitting that I would fall in love with the work of Nantucket-based photographer, Lauren Marttila and her stunning seascapes, beachscapes and, especially, black and white surf prints!

Lauren is an absolute sweetheart; I've been following her work on Instagram and obsessing over her "Wait" and "Lineup" for a while now.  Lucky for us, she has graciously agreed to give away one of her framed "shelfie" prints to a lucky reader today - a 5" by 5" print, that includes a white mat and frame!  Below are the three prints to choose from:

"Lineup"

"Flock"

"Emoji in the Wild"

TO ENTER, ALL YOU HAVE TO DO IS:

1.  Leave a comment with the name of the shelfie you like.

2.  Make sure you leave your name and email so I can get in touch with you!

3.  Make sure you are following @Bungalowblue and @Laurenmarttila on Instagram, too!

We will select a winner at random this Friday, 26 January, and Lauren will then ship the framed print at no charge to the winner, (within the Continental U.S. only)  Best of luck trying to decide which one you love the most!  So excited for you guys!

fall goodies + a winner!

Thank you to everyone who entered this week's giveaway and congratulations to winner Kaylee Coles!!  RUSH II is coming your way!  And a big thank you, once again, to Brynn Weiermiller for graciously offering up one of her stunning prints of the sea!

I think this is the first time in my entire life that I'm not holding on to summer with a vengeance.  It's still in the high 80's and even low-to-mid 90's around these parts but I'm craving soft, loose sweaters and boyfriend jeans, pumpkin spice candles and evenings curled up on the sofa with a cozy blanket and a glass of wine.  We've got a ways to go until it really feels like fall around these parts, so until then here is a list of some goodies I'm loving lately to get your home ready for the change in the season.  What are you craving for fall this year?

Cable knit pillow / Brass log holder / Topiary / Candlesticks / Candle / Fox door knocker / Wreath

Tortoise ice bucket / Marble tray / Whiskey barrel / Basket / Gold flatware / Vase

julia contacessi's beautiful abstracts + a giveaway! (closed)

I apologize for the silence on the blog last week; my momma was in town for eight whole days and so baby girl and I soaked up each and every minute with her!  To make up for the lack of posts lately, I thought we'd kick off the week with the fabulous abstract artwork by Julia Contacessi!!  You might remember I included one of her paintings in a roundup of my favorite sea-inspired artwork through Minted a few weeks ago;  I love her bold use of color and how almost all of her landscapes and abstracts remind me of the sea.  There isn't a piece in her portfolio I wouldn't LOVE to hang on my walls (her "Distant Island Pier" is currently a contender for some empty wall space in my master bathroom, actually!)  Here are a few favorites from her portfolio I'm loving lately:

Julia has graciously offered to give away one of her framed and matted art prints to one lucky reader here on the blog!  All you have to do is tell us which one is your favorite in the comment section below and don't forget to leave your email address!  I will pick a winner this Friday, 7 August.  Here are the five beauties to pick from; good luck picking your favorite!

Driven (9x9 art size)
