oversize seascapes from minted

Despite the fact that it's fall, I never have the beach too far from my mind.  And what better way to capture the essence of the sea than with an oversize photographic print of it in your home?  If you guys have been following along here a while, you know I'm obsessed with prints of the sea on as big a scale as I can get.  Minted is killing it lately with their budget-friendly pieces and I still can't get over how affordable they are framed!  It's such a great way to make a dramatic impact without breaking the bank!  Below is a roundup of some pieces I'm loving lately; I'm seriously thinking East Coast Surf would make a great gift for the hubby!  It's so hard to pick a favorite; which one is yours?

Rocky Coast / Blue Monday / Seaside Contrast

Monochrome Shore / Diverge / Praia da Ursa

Foaming Sea Water iiiWave Patterns

East Coast Surf / Staten Sea I / Malibu View No. 2

julia contacessi's beautiful abstracts + a giveaway! (closed)

I apologize for the silence on the blog last week; my momma was in town for eight whole days and so baby girl and I soaked up each and every minute with her!  To make up for the lack of posts lately, I thought we'd kick off the week with the fabulous abstract artwork by Julia Contacessi!!  You might remember I included one of her paintings in a roundup of my favorite sea-inspired artwork through Minted a few weeks ago;  I love her bold use of color and how almost all of her landscapes and abstracts remind me of the sea.  There isn't a piece in her portfolio I wouldn't LOVE to hang on my walls (her "Distant Island Pier" is currently a contender for some empty wall space in my master bathroom, actually!)  Here are a few favorites from her portfolio I'm loving lately:

Julia has graciously offered to give away one of her framed and matted art prints to one lucky reader here on the blog!  All you have to do is tell us which one is your favorite in the comment section below and don't forget to leave your email address!  I will pick a winner this Friday, 7 August.  Here are the five beauties to pick from; good luck picking your favorite!

Divinity (9x9 art size)

Driven (9x9 art size)

House of Sapphire No. 1 (9x12 art size)

Sea Smoke (9x9 art size)

Undertow (9x12 art size)

sea-inspired art by minted

Art is one of my favorite ways to change up your decor for the summer, or, even better, to bring a little bit of the beach to your home all year round.  Minted has become one of my favorite sources for budget-friendly art and beautiful, equally affordable framing options and they're KILLING it lately with their selection of sea-inspired pieces in watery blues and greens.  All of their pieces come in a variety of sizes, some as large as 40x40, which, as you know if you've read this blog for any length of time, I'm a huge fan of making a statement with oversize art.  Here are a few pieces I'm loving lately; I put them all in their simple, raw wood picture frame option (currently my fave) - a large single piece or grouped together, they're a great way to bring the beach to your home:

Marbled Wake / Paddleboarders, Malibu 2011 / Distant Island Pier / Minimalist Sea /

Drift / Oyster Blues / Surfer Bae 1 / Washed Over / Waters Edge

The hubby's birthday is next month and this will be the first time in THREE YEARS that he will be stateside to celebrate the big day!  That, in itself, is quite a feat, so I'm on the hunt for an amazing gift.  Shopping for the guy who has everything is tough, especially when he would be just as happy barbequing and celebrating with an ice cream cake, in lieu of gifts.  But birthdays are a BIG deal for me, so the pressure is on to get him something amazing! Having started his military career in Hawaii also became the start of a lifelong love of surfing.  I love this "Waiting, Malibu" print by Annie Seaton and it's available through Minted in many different sizes, all the way up to 44x44!  I think an oversize print like this would be a beautiful gift idea that is not only dramatic and colorful but also pays homage to his love for surfing and a pretty incredible career at that!

Choosing art sizes can be tough, especially oversize pieces, but I love how easy Minted makes it by including a sizing chart for every piece!

I'm so in love with the color palette in this piece and the laid back, casual vibe.  Here are a couple picks I would use to style a room with an oversize piece like this:

Seagrass basket / Waiting, Malibu print / Wicker chair / Christopher Farr Carnival pillow /

Timur Weave pillow / Kasari Ikat lumbar pillow / Knotty Bubbles pendant light /

Blake Raffia coffee table / Dhurrie rug

Here are a few others I'm loving by Annie Seaton - I'm so drawn to all the different shades of blue and the movement of each piece.  The contrast between the water and the silhouettes is beautiful, too.  How amazing would a gallery wall of a bunch of these in simple frames and different sizes be??  Everyone loves the beach so these would make a great gift idea, too! Click here to see more of Annie's work available through Minted and see more of her amazing portfolio here.

Paddle Boarders / American Idyll II / Surfer Bae

Waiting for Swell / Surfer in Silhouette / Rincon Surfers

Happy Monday!

minted art

I've used Minted for our Christmas cards for years; the photo quality and weight of the paper just can't be beat and the price is so affordable.  I'm still getting compliments on Lydia's beautiful birth announcements so I know I'll be ordering birthday invites for years to come, as well!  Besides beautiful cards and stationery, I was pleasantly surprised to discover that Minted is also a great source for artwork, with a pretty impressive collection of limited edition art prints from independent artists.  Each piece comes in a variety of sizes and matting and framing options and prices are so affordable, I had to do a double take! Most can even be printed up to 4 feet, for some serious drama for your walls!  Here are some pieces that caught my eye:

They've got quite an adorable selection of children's art, too!  Love these personalized options for babies - they would make a great baby or birthday gift:

I'm especially enamored with this Moby Dick quote; the oversize version would look adorable in a nursery:

Have you bought any artwork from Minted?  I'd love to know what you think!
