mother's day table + gift ideas

Mother's Day is right around the corner and this year, I'm ahead of the game for the first time in forever with gifts for my own momma and some of my closest friends already wrapped and ready to be given!  I'll be spending the day this year with my mom and my aunt, which is enough of a gift for me in itself, but if I could imagine the perfect present for them, I'd love to host a brunch with a beautiful table setting, lots of yummy food and a bloody Mary or mimosa (or two)!  There's such a bevy of beautiful accessories for the table out right now (I'm especially loving the entire new entertaining collection by Aerin at Williams Sonoma!) and the best part is that almost every one of the items I picked would make for a great gift idea, as well!  Here are some of my current favorites:

These blue and white floral napkins would be an amazing pop of color, paired with bamboo flatware and rattan chargers!

I need another white pitcher like I need a hole in the head, but this basketweave beauty is speaking right to my texture loving heart!

This blue and white swirl taper vase is so simple but so stunning.  Would be a show stopping centerpiece with white hydrangea.

Myrtle topiary are my obsession but they are next to impossible to find anywhere in North or South Carolina (Believe me, I've tried).  Here are a few sizes to choose from, if you want to try having one shipped; I think there's nothing more chic than a staggering of a few different sizes in the middle of the table!

I love my $4 water hyacinth chargers from Ikea, but I've got to say, I think the texture and design of these rattan chargers from Serena and Lily are definitely worth the splurge!

Mixing up drinkware is one of my favorite tricks when setting a table; these French wine glasses and woven tumblers (mine are from Home Goods) are a staple in my house and would make a great gift idea for the friend or momma who loves to entertain (or just set a beautiful table).

My oversize clam shell is one of my most favorite home decorative accessories ever; it would be a simple but beautiful centerpiece, filled with citrus.

It's no secret I love all things bamboo and this serving set just adds that little something extra special to the table (and would make for a fantastic gift!

beautiful books for mother's day

Mother's Day is less than two weeks away and for the first time in what seriously feels like forever, I've already bought, wrapped and shipped my own momma's gifts out way ahead of time! For any birthday or holiday, beautiful coffee table books are always at the top of my list of gifts to give (and get, for that matter!) and right now, there is a bevy of beautiful books out that would make for a gorgeous gift to celebrate your mother (or to add to your own personal collection!)  Here are a few lovely tomes, from gardening, monogramming and cooking to interior design, entertaining and flower arranging, that any momma would love:

At Home in the Garden / Bunny Williams On Garden Style / A Boat, A Whale and a Walrus / Monograms for the Home / Linens: For Every Room and Occasion / The Book of PalmsPret-a-Party:Great Ideas for Good Times and Creative Entertaining / The Southerner's CookbookCharlotte Moss: Garden Inspirations / The Romance of Flowers / Mrs. Howard Room By Room /

What are some of your favorite books to give or to get??

flowers for mom

Mother's Day is less than a week away!  In case you missed my gift guide last week, there's still time to order something special for your momma, but if you're short on time or ideas, flowers are always a great option - especially when they're presented in a gorgeous vessel!  As much as I love fresh flowers, I have a bit of an obsession with beautiful vases, as well.  I saw the image above (via A Fabulous Fete) a few weeks ago and loved the simplicity of the flowers, naturally, but also how they pack an even bigger punch in the oversize glass vase (on sale at Pier 1 right now!)  I rounded up a few other favorite flower vases below; add some beautiful blooms for a lovely, thoughtful Mother's Day gift!

These honeycomb white glass vases are just the most beautiful I've seen; they are a personal favorite of mine!

Swirl taper vases are a beautiful, modern take on traditional blue and white!

Burlap covered vases like these are actually an easy DIY and look beautiful as candle holders, too!

These white ceramic faux bamboo vases were included in last week's gift guide, but they're so stunning I had to include them here, as well!

These matte black glass vases are modern and so chic!

I LOVE these rope handled bubble glass vases from Pier 1.  They make as much of a statement filled with flowers as they do on their own!

A silver plated mint julep cup is a classic way to display a small group of blooms.

Jill Rosenwald has the loveliest collection of striped vases in a bevy of beautiful colors and rimmed in gold.  Loving this capri striped vase and this orchid vase.

These ridge vases are a great pick for the momma who loves a more modern touch!

Happy Monday!
