a few things on my radar for spring

I'm walking around like a zombie the last few days, partly because Luca is still not sleeping well but also because the hubby and I have not been able to get the littles to bed fast enough so we can make a cocktail and binge watch as many episodes as possible of Breaking Bad.  I have no idea how we went this long without watching the show, but we are hooked!  So, besides whether Walter is going to get busted or not, I've also got some pretties on my mind lately - in the form of rattan, tortoise and, of course, blue and white goodness.  Perfect for spring(or any other time of the year, really).  Here are a few things giving me heart palpitations lately:

Bamboo serveware / South Seas Coffee Table / Lumbar pillow / Ginger jar / Print / Double old fashioneds

These bamboo serving pieces would be a beautiful addition to my new flatware.

Serena and Lily just made my dreams come true with this rattan coffee table - proof that style and kid-friendly can go hand in hand!

Still on the hunt for a topiary that I can't kill.

Would love a pair of these blue and white lumbar pillows for my living room.

You can never have too many blue and white ginger jars; love the print on this one!

Love this ship print for a powder room or child's room!

My husband gave me a set of these gold-rimmed tortoise double old fashioneds for our anniversary and I'm completely obsessed!

What are you loving lately?

double bypass + 80% off at rugs usa!

I have never been so exhausted in my life.  And that includes when Lydia woke up every hour and a half throughout the night, for three months straight.  My dad had double bypass surgery two weeks ago so I packed up baby girl and my furbaby to go and help him out.  It's amazing how the human body is capable of recovering from such an invasive procedure; he's got a ways to go, but he really is doing unbelievably well. We are back home for a bit and slowly but surely getting back into our normal routine and that includes blogging!  Truth is, I had a number of posts lined up to share while I was away but after helping my dad, entertaining my 20 month old and catering to my furbaby's arthritis, there just wasn't time.  Or energy! So, I thought I'd kick off the week by letting you guys know of the 80% off sale over at Rugs USA right now; if you're in the market for something soft and lovely underfoot, now is the time to check out the goods! A beautiful, quality rug is worth its weight in gold; it adds warmth, softness and texture and makes a space feel complete and pulled together.  There are a bevy of beauties at incredible prices right now, just enter LBRD80 at checkout! Here are a few classics that I love and source over and over again:

Handspun jute rug / Jute circle rug / Jute chevron rug

Surya Smithsonian rug / Santa Ana striped rug / Overdyed rug

Moroccan shag rug / Greek key rug / Dhurrie

Happy Shopping!  And Happy Labor Day!

christmas gift guide: for the guys

Christmas shopping for my husband, dad and brothers used to stress me out to no end in the past.  I'm always obsessed with finding Christmas gifts that are both meaningful and thoughtful and, let's face it, a sweater or a bottle of cologne usually falls short of both criteria (especially when shopping for the guy who already has everything, which all the men in my life seem to be).  The last few years, however, I feel like I've really fine tuned my search for great gift ideas that any guy I know would love and this year is no exception.  I want to get everything on this list for the hubby and there are a few things I've picked up for my brothers already, as well.  (My dad requested a gallery wall of framed family photos this year!)  Here are my picks for gift ideas for the guys.  I'm pretty excited about each and every one of these!

Love this leather satchel - perfect for carrying essentials and even fits a laptop!

Bleu de Chanel is, hands down, the most intoxicating men's fragrance EVER!

A beer making kit for the brew enthusiast.

These monogrammed brass cufflinks are the perfect finishing touch to a (navy blue!) suit.

Love the leather strap and navy blue face on this chronograph - a dressier take on the classic chrono!

Original Ray-Ban aviators are a must-have for every guy.

Monogrammed double old fashioneds are a great gift for any guy; pair them with a set of whiskey rocks and this ribbed whiskey decanter!

What guy wouldn't love these powerbeats by Dre??

If you haven't played Cards Against Humanity yet, you have no idea what you're missing.  It's the most hilarious, wildly inappropriate card game to play with friends and family and I love it so much, it really belongs on every gift guide because I don't know anyone who wouldn't get a kick out of it!

Love these reinvented classic Nikes

This brass anchor adds a little nautical touch to bookshelves, a stack of magazines or just on its own.  Perfect for the boat or beach lover.

What are some of your favorite gift ideas for the men in your life?

fab fall finds for $75 or less

Yesterday marked the start of fall and, much to my surprise, the temperature never made it above 65, so I'm finally very excited for the change in seasons!  I emptied all of my summer pots and got them ready for some mums, cabbage, kale and ornamental grasses and am chomping at the bit to pull out my faux fur throws, riding boots and puffer vests!  My way of decorating for fall is to just add a bunch of cozy and natural elements, candles and, of course, lots of texture and fresh greenery.  Here are a few of my favorite items that will get your home ready for fall without breaking the bank; every one is $75 or less! West Elm, High Street Market, Mark and Graham, C Wonder and Nordstrom are chock full of beautiful, affordable decorative items; here are a few things I'm loving lately:

Animal print makes the most impact in small doses and this chenille leopard print pillow is the perfect accessory for the bed, sofa or chair!

Add a preserved boxwood wreath to your front door for a pop of fresh color that will last from fall throughout the holiday season!

Pop some kindling, firewood or birch logs in this modern weave handled basket for an instant fall feel!

A monogrammed wood cheese board is a personal, rustic touch.

This agate platter with gold leaf edge is art all on its own!

I have this raffia table runner and I love it!  It's one of my favorite ways to add a little texture and interest to my white dinnerware and serving dishes.

These stemless gold rimmed water and wine glasses are elegant but practical enough for every day use (and make great gifts, too!)

I love the gold tone on these woodblock print napkins; such a beautiful compliment to a fall table setting!

Horn coasters are a beautiful, easy way to add a natural element.

Love this silvered chisel votive (it's just as lovely as a bud vase!)

Jo Malone's wood sage and sea salt candle is worth the hype; it smells absolutely divine!

What are you loving for fall?  I'd love to know!

serena + lily fall favorites

If you haven't seen the new fall line from Serena and Lily, you need to mosey on over quick, fast and in a hurry!  Their fall catalogue made its way into my mailbox last night and I couldn't devour it fast enough - bold pops of rich, saturated color are an unexpected, refreshing compliment to gorgeous neutral pieces, brass and gold accents, luxurious silk curtain panels, stripes, stripes and more stripes!  As someone who is partial to neutral spaces, I can't stop thinking of those magnificent emerald curtain panels paired with brass accents (or those indigo walls and trim with jute rugs and gold, for that matter!)  I'm loving the mix of materials and textures - a scalloped cowhide rug, an antique gold finish on the Harrington lamp and that gorgeous Blake raffia coffee table have me swooning!

As usual, I fell in love with all things neutral - linen, gold and hints of gray/ are a few lovelies I wouldn't mind putting in my shopping cart:

Goodman pendant / Blake raffia coffee table / Bruno bench / Harrington lamp

Savile side table / Scalloped hide rug / Capiz scalloped chandelier

What are some of your favorites from Serena and Lily's fall line??
